The errors on the others are harder to decipher - it mentions the CD-ROM, but I've tried the install on several different CD-ROM drives & on 2 machines with the same results.
I may need to go root around for a win98 PC to rule that out of the equation, but right now I'm guessing the error on DDG:Ryojohen is probably due to a Japanese filename. So far, I get similar results on the XP machine. Install wizard fails almost immediately with the following error (or very similar): Starts to install, but fails after writing some files with the following error: Now, these are the CD versions - not the downloads & they're been installed on a Win2k PC, with a PC running XP as backup for any issues that might be down to incompatibilities with Win2k. I've managed to gather myself some of the Unbalance PC DDG games & over the last week I've finally gotten some time to have a go at installing (& hopefully play with) them.
